Crimean spring
Immediately after the revolution in Kiev, Crimea, with the support of activists from Russia, started seceding from Ukraine. Well-trained soldiers with no insignias, later recognized as soldiers from the Ministry of Defense, blocked the military bases of the Ukrainian army. Having received no resistance from the Ukrainian interim government, the pro-Russian activists managed to hold a referendum; as a result, the Crimean spring of 2014 was its last under the flag of Ukraine.
